Worship Committee

The Worship Committee of OUMC is made up of the following members:

Michele Fournier, Chairperson

Music Director: Alice Bucca
Head Usher: Bruce Nichols
Communion Steward: Betty Andrews
Projectionist: Doug Downey
Flower Coordinator: Elaine Langer
Members at Large:

  • Carolyn Downer
  • Helen Stevens

The committee's role is to cooperate with the pastor and other persons responsible for worship in planning for worship services.  The committee strives to have representation from many areas that contribute to the worship service, such as music, flowers, ushers, communion stewards, liturgists and lay ministry.  Our goal is authentic worship that is pleasing to God.  We welcome the congregation's ideas and suggestions about worship at Oakdale.  Please feel free to talk to anyone on the committee.

  ALTAR FLOWERS

A lovely floral arrangement on the altar during Sunday worship is a special gift we offer to God as part of our praise and worship of God. If you wish to donate altar flowers, please contact Elaine Langer at (978) 422-6184. Elaine coordinates the altar flower schedule. Her ministry includes assisting donors with ordering the altar flowers, providing information for the Sunday bulletin and monthly newsletter, and finding a loving and caring use for the flowers following the service.

Usually, one floral arrangement is ordered for the altar each Sunday. However, two arrangements can be accommodated if the date is important to both donors. Flowers are usually donated in memory of loved ones who are no longer with us or for a loved one whom you wish to honor, and that information is published in the Sunday bulletin.

We request that you join us in our worship on the Sunday you donate flowers, if you are physically able to do so. If you are unable to attend, please keep the Church in your prayers that day, as we will keep you in ours.

Finally, after each service, Elaine delivers the flowers to someone who might benefit from a visit and a kind word on behalf of the Church. We consider this a special outreach by the Church, and the personal contact is very much appreciated by the recipient. If you know of someone who might benefit from such a gesture, please provide Elaine with this information.
